Within Sight of Shore by Halifax composer Scott Macmillan is a personal reflection in 4 movements: The Hit, The Wait, The Rescue, Ashore, recalling the events of the sinking of HMCS Esquimalt on April 16th 1945 just outside Halifax Harbour. His father, Lieutenant Commander Robert C. Macmillan, was the commanding officer of that ship. Of a crew of 71, 44 lives were lost.
